Zero Waste Kettle Corn

Popcorn is one of the easiest snacks to make when you’re trying to live plastic free. Kernels are easy to find in bulk at most stores, and its easy to change the flavors with salt and herbs if you’re feeling savory, or sugar if you’re in the mood for something sweeter!

What You’ll need

- Popcorn Kernels in bulk

-Coconut oil

-Sugar

To begin, put about a spoonful of coconut oil in the pan and let it melt on medium/low. Put in as much sugar as you desire, however 1/2 a tablespoon will make it taste just like average kettle corn. Add in just enough kernels to coat the bottom of the pan and cover with a lid. Don’t put in more kernels than this otherwise the pot will overflow.

Cover the pan with a lid while still on medium/low. You’ll start to hear the kernels popping. When they slow down to popping once every five seconds, take the pot of the heat and let it sit for another 20-30 seconds. After that, put it in a bowl and enjoy!
